Susan Silberberg, a city planner and author, has been teaching at MIT for over a decade. She speaks around the world and is available for speaking engagements on placemaking, urban design, arts and cultural development, and urban revitalization. She is the lead author of Places in the Making: How placemaking builds places and communities (MIT, 2013), and Pretext securitization of Boston’s public realm after 9/11: Motives, actors and a role for planners in “Policing Cities: Urban Securitization and Regulation in a 21st Century World” (Routledge, 2013). Susan spoke at 2014 Chicago Ideas Week and presented a TEDx talk on placemaking in November 2014.
